It get warmer in the summer with a high humidity although the trade winds help to keep the islands a little cooler. There are 2 seasons on the islands: Summer which runs from May to September and Winter which is from October to April and the rainy times are usually from May to October although the rain is usually in short showers and followed with beautiful blue skies immediately after.

Travel to and around Nassau, Paradise and Long Island

Nassau and Paradise Island are easy to reach by air or sea with plenty of chartered and scheduled flights arriving daily into the airports of Nassau (NAS) and Paradise Island Airport from all over the world. There are many cruise liners that travel to the islands if you want to enjoy a holiday while traveling here. There are ferries that travel between the 2 islands and the different surrounding Cays, also if you are not in any hurry you can jump on the mail-boats that visit once a week. While you are in Nassau the most popular and reliable modes of transport are car rental, motor scooters, buses and taxis, bicycles are not usually available for rental. The buses are regular and travel to most parts of the island, taxis are dotted all over the island and will take you wherever you want to go, of course for ease and convenience, car rental would be the best way to get around.

There are 2 main airports on Long island, Deadman's Cay Airport (LGI) and Stella Mjaris Airport (SML). There are daily scheduled services between Long Island and Nassau, so you would fly into Nassau and get a connecting flight to Long Island. Charter services can be arranged through any of the local and international carriers. A weekly sea service is available by mail-boat if you are not in any hurry. While you are here the main types of transport are car hire and taxi's, there are no buses or public transport available on the island.
